Triggering dual-zone pad rim?

Hello,
I suspect this might be a simple issue with a simple solution. But I am stuck. For some reason, I can't figure out how to get the dual-zone pads in my setup to trigger on their rims.
I have an eDrumin 10 with the following pads connected via 6 TRS cables:
- 3 Roland PD-6 single-zone rubber pads
- 1 Roland PD-7 dual-zone rubber pad
- 2 Roland PD-9 dual-zone rubber pads
My PD-6s are triggering on both their heads and their rims with Edge Sense available, which makes sense because I have them set to mono input. This is an awesome feature.
But I can't get the rims of the PD-7 & PD-9s to trigger (even though this worked on my last setup with the same pads and settings).
In the software, for the dual-zone pads that aren't triggering, the "RIM" MIDI note assignment is available to modify, but it never triggers no matter how hard or direct I hit the rim of the pad. This is different from the "SS" MIDI note assignment that appears in the software with my PD-6s set to mono, maybe this might have something to do with it?
I tried my best to troubleshoot. The polarity on the pads is correct, I only have TRS cables, in the eDrumin software I followed the manual and have the dual-zone pads set to stereo input/rubber pad pad type (and I switched these settings before turning on the eDrumin), I tried updating the software and then the firmware, I tried a factory reset, and then I tried switching the pad types to all the other presets but still, no luck.
How do I get my Roland PD-7 & PD-9s to trigger on their rims?
Thank you.
