EDrumin 8 + vh-13 + DTX pro module issues

Hey guys ,

I am trying to setup the Roland VH-13 with my Yamaha dtx pro module using ED8 and I am having theses issues below:
If I set Yamaha map, the Hihat splash and edge sound doesn’t work at all.
If I set Roland map , the splashes sounds works perfectly but I am getting a cash loud sound from the edges.

Is there any way to fix that ? Am I missing some step ? Because I’m using Rob’s YouTube tutorial to setup my Roland vh-13 .

Cheers!

Can you please post screenshots of your hihat pedal and hihat cymbal settings.

Hey Rob,

thank you for the quick reply! I will make a detailed video with all the problems after my work shift.
The problems encountered so far were:
  • ED8 doesn't work (pedal/hihat setup) with my IPAD (IOS). Only with the beta version of Windows.
  • The splash pedal on the VH-13 is not working correctly (I've already tried several different combinations based on your YouTube video). Basically, If I press the pedal fast, it doesn't work all the times.
  • When I hit the edge of the hi-hat, it is triggering the pad 13 of my module DTX pro instead of continuing with the Hi-hat pad.
PS: I am using the TRS stereo cables (that came with my rhh135) for the hi-hat control (vh-13) -> ED8 pedal input and Trigger ( vh-13)-> ED8 input 1.

If you really want to make a video, that's fine, but I just need to see the settings for you hihat pedal and hihat cymbal. So if you do make a video, please also provide those screenshots from your Windows machine so properly see how you have things setup.

Thanks for the comprehensive set of screenshots. Can you switch your hihat to 'Hihat CC mode' as I don't think Yamaha modules support directly triggering the various hihat sounds. Also change your map back to Yamaha, and report if there are still issues. If there are, maybe there's something wrong with the drum map, or perhaps you have changed the setting in your module. At any rate, we'll get to the bottom of it.

I noticed another issue, too.

Your hihat cymbal should not be set to Yamaha wiring. Should be like this:

You should probably update to build 16 as it fixes a few more issues and has newly updated presets of the VH-13 cymbal and hihat controller.

I did all recommended settings and now all open/close dynamics, the edge sound, and splash sounds are gone! :(
Basically, The vh-13 does not work properly with the Yamaha map. if I switched back to Roland's map. The open/close dynamics are back, splash barely works and the edge sounds are triggering the pad 13.

I just opened up SD3 and selected the DTX-PRO map there, and I can see that the assignments in the eDRUMin map do not exactly match those that SD3 thinks should be working. I can make a new DTX PRO map for you, but there is some conflicting information and I have no way to test which is correct.

Below is the information I got from SD3. It seems there are 2 Tip Trigger and 2 Edge trigger notes, but I'm unsure which is correct. Also, you can see that there is not note for Splash, so I suspect splash is not supported by the DTX Pro.

Here is what the eDRUMin Yamaha drum map is sending:

Tip: 42
Edge: 22
Closed Pedal: 44
Splash: 42

Which of these assignments work correctly? Is the tip (BOW) working? I suspect the edge is not? How about the closed pedal? From what I can tell, only the 'Edge' doesn't work properly.
