I have two ekits that have different pads but shared cymbals. One's my custom kit that I use for practice at home and gigs. The other is a spare set of Roland pads that I use for rehearsals at another location.

My question: Will I need to create individual presets for each drum and load them when I switch kits, or will a custom drum map save the pad presets, too?

Drum maps only save information about notes. What you want is to save a device snapshot for each configuration.
