drum-tec V3 Hotspotless Snare?

Post by stipsi »

Hello

Has anyone already tested the new Drum-Tec V3 snare with the 3 triggers in conjunction with eDrumin?

It doesn't work. Can you elaborate? Surely it works to some extent.

Hello,
I have just bought a Drum-Tec Diabolo 3 snare with the 3 cones. It's actually very good. Especially for the special price they are now offering on the new models.
I tested the combination of edrumin 8 and EZdrummer3.
No hotspot, the positional sensing works perfectly. I still have to work on the sidestick and rimshot, but that shouldn't be a problem.
BUT....
the output of the snare is much too high. I have reduced the gain to a minimum and still get the 127 when I play 75% of my velocity (and I don't think I'm a heavy hitter). Drum-Tec support has not been able to help me so far.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to fix this, as I would like to keep the drum?
I don't want to replace the cones or solder anything on a newly purchased unit.
Is there some kind of attenuator that I can just put between the cable and the module?

ON the pro it seems to be solved, if I am reading this correctly:

"Exclusive on the pro 3 Snare: an additional switch, mounted on the outside, which lowers the output voltage of the head signal if necessary. This is advantageous for E-Drum modules that require a high level of rim detection for the natural reproduction of your sound."

Anyone knows if this would make it a good option for a snare with Edrumin?

From an email I received from DT: "The switch does not reduce the voltage, it changes the energy between head and rim triggering...."

Not sure what that means, but it does contradict the wording on their website.

I guess it's too easy to be produced for sale. Just a stereo socket plus a stereo plug and resistor or potentiometer in between (tip of the socket and tip of the plug)

Hi

Is there any news on this topic?
Does it have someone in operation where it works 100% as it should?
