I have bought an eDrumin10 and till i have it i am searching for a ride (i have the Roland VH-12 hihat and Roland CY-14c crash).

The Roland CY-15r is a Roland (so good quality?) and can be used with 1 cable for 3 zones.

The Lemon is 18” and cheap and reviews seem not too bad.
What is smart? To go for the better brand and have a smaller ride, or has anyone tested both and is the 18” lemon nicer to have because of the size?

Any tips?

I think the answer depends on what you want out of your drums, and what you are prepared to spend to achieve that.

I have used Roland cymbals a lot, and they are good quality, durable cymbals that are reliable but they had some drawbacks for me which were that they don't offer 360 triggering, had pretty poor response on the bell zone, and had unrealistic/small cymbal sizes. With eDrumin you'll be able to get the most out of them, but for me I found the ATV 18" far superior to my CY-15R. For the price that you often pay for Roland's, I don't think the value is there any more with so many good options around. In terms of realistic sizes you have a choice of EFNote (18,20), ATV (18), Lemon (17) and Yamaha (17). I previously used an ATV 18" ride and found it to be very good and accurate and was quite happy with it. At that time the Yamaha 17" cymbals hadn't been released, but I had used Yamaha 13" and 15" with very good results through eDrumin10 and so I'd have thought that Yamaha 17" would be similar.

I haven't tried the Lemon cymbals but at that price point (USD$50-100 depending on who/where you buy and shipping) your risk is pretty low. Depending on budget, this might mean that you can do more elsewhere in your kit. For instance, if you don't actually play the ride cymbal that much, or use all of the functionality of it, you should spend your $$$ on the pieces that you use the most and want the best results from. Lemon's appear to have good reviews regarding their playability and I've only really read positive reviews, which I think are slightly biased by the fact that the price is extremely low in comparison to other brands.

Thank you for your detailed answer, the ride is for now the only thing i am missing. I built the kit myself from an acoustic drum and bought amazon piezo's in the first place but notices the cones are quiet important so i bought a set of R-Drum triggers for all toms (center + rim).
For only the bass i use an amazon trigger with foam because i don't think it is that important.

The hihat and crash is from roland because the reviews showed those should be quiet good (VH-15 and CY-14).
I don't know what to upgrade and i think with a nice ride the drum should be complete. Especially with the Edrumin module with position sensing on the toms, and hopefully too on de ride (don't know if that is supported)

The Lemon 18" is 145€ shipped in the Netherlands. The roland is more expensive, smaller and second hand.
To be honest, i didn't really look at ATV yet but that could be an option too.

For some reason Yamaha is not really on my list. Maybe because the wiring is different, maybe because most of the reviews i saw didn't include Yamaha, except for full drumkit reviews.

I will look into that as well.
