Hi- I have an issue with hi-hat pedal closure I hope someone can help with.
It seems that I have to let the hats come to full open before another closed sound can be generated. Very annoying when playing softly or trying to generate a quick "bark".
Background info - this is a DIY set up using an SE49 sensor which works amazingly well for quick and accurate position sensing and calibrates within a normal working range. Using hi hat mode levels in pedal mode passing straight through SD3 using SD3 pre-set. All open and closed articulations play well and feel natural except for the pedal close. I have tried a dizzying number of combinations of minimum pedal chick threshold, travel, gain, basically every tool I could think of to throw at it, and nothing made a noticeable difference. What am I missing? Thanks!

First, I would recommend updating to version 2.0.1, but this isn't necessary. The pedal will need to come to about 80% open to start triggering a new closed hihat event. The easiest way to get your pedal to open more quickly, is to adjust the right side of the hihat pedal calibrating range, moving it further to the left.

Ok, got it. Thanks, Rob. When you say that the pedal needs to be at about 80% open to start triggering a new closed hi at event, are you referring to the setting on the pedal travel control? Or do you just mean the 80% point of the physical distance between open and closed position?

Hi Rob. Just wanted to give an update on your suggestion--unfortunately, it didn't work, BUT... you were on the right track. Doing the opposite (adjust the left side of the hi hat pedal calibrating range, moving it further to the right - really did the trick. It works perfectly now. I discovered that adjusting the calibration range in this manner to match the travel of the position indicator to the left seems to balance the response nicely, but you probably already knew that...so much for me to learn! The hi hat now feels 95% (subjective, I know) like a real hi hat. Thanks!

Rob, continuing with this thread, I took your suggestion to update to 2.0.1.6 after having gotten the hi-hat closure problem solved.
It looks as though there may be a bug in the new version. Every time I open SD3, there is no hi hat control. I open edrumin and click on the pedal function. Even though "expression pedal" is highlighted, it is inactive until I click on it again, then functionality resumes. I tried this several times to make sure it wasn't an aberration, but the problem is consistent.

Please send another pic of your pedal settings.

Try manually setting the polarity instead of using 'auto'.
