TD-50X To Mimic Pro

Hello,

I currently own a TD-50X with the digital hats, ride and snare. I would like to trigger a Pearl Mimic Pro, while using the TD-50X as a trigger interface for my current pads. I understand that the Mimic doesn't support polyphonic aftertouch to choke the cymbals, so I was thinking that I could use an Edrumin 10 between the two modules. I could simply pass thru any pads that don't need anything done to them, and for the cymbals, I could change the polyphonic aftertouch to a note number for the Mimic.

My questions:

1. Would this work?
2. Because the Edrumin10 is going to be out of stock for well over a year, is there any other way to accomplish this? I was thinking of getting the Edrumin4 and then use a USB to MIDI cable to connect the Edrumin to the Mimic. Would this work?

Thanks in advance for your time.

What you could do is connected the ED4 to your TD-50X and the TD-50X to the mimic (all using standard MIDI cables). Connect any cymbals you need to choke notes to the eDRUMin. But why not just connect those cymbals directly to the Mimic and forget about the eDRUMin altogether?

Thanks for the reply, Rob. I probably should have worded my question differently or perhaps laid out what I had hoped to achieve.

In addition to the better sounds in the Mimic, I am also primarily interested in it's hi-hat engine, and how it compares to Superior Drummer 3. My hats are digital, so they won't work with the method you have described.

My aim is to test the hi-hat sound quality and responsiveness, between the TD-50X, Mimic and Superior Drummer 3.

Are there any other ways I could achieve what I have described, while using my TD-50X as a MIDI device for my digital hats?

ED4 won't work for you simply because it doesn't have a MIDI in port. Even with an ED10 this is not currently supported, but is within the realm of possibility. I've had some requests from others and I plan to implement something to dynamically remap MIDI data between devices.

Thanks again for your reply, Rob. I have two final questions, if you wouldn't mind:

1. Do you have plans to implement the features I will need before the next batch of Edrumin 10's are available?

2. Is there any piece of hardware or software available that will do what I want?

Thank you once again for your time.

I won't have more ED10 for over a year, so it's quite possible it will be implemented by then.
