Adding Yamaha cymbal not working

Post by OftheSeven »

I just added my 3rd Yamaha cymbal (PCY135). My previous two (PCY135 and 155) have been working perfectly using the Yamaha 3-zone cymbal preset.
When I plug in the new cymbal it does not consistently register the input signal. I've swapped cables and the cables work on all the other cymbals.
And I used my new cymbal in the other inputs and it works fine.

I've loaded the Yamaha cymbal preset, reset the input, and manually selected Yamaha 3 zone and that worked for a bit then it started going mute or show the red exclamation.

Is something going on with my input port?

Or I get this strange display.

Can you please confirm that a dual piezo pad works fine on that input?

I moved my snare to that input and it appears to work. It feels a little quirky (inconsistent) but it works.

I moved my Yamaha cymbal back to that input and changed to the corresponding pad type, selected Cymbal 4 from the SD3 map.
The bow and bell work but it will not trigger the edge.

If I switch the cymbal with my ride input, then all the articulations work properly, so I don't think it's the cymbal pad.

The device does a compatibility check to try to prevent sending DC voltage to dual piezo pads. Try disabling the compatibility check and see if your cymbal works properly.

The way to do that is described at the end of this thread.

Do you have the Mac keys for Alt-Shift-Click? I tried Option and Control with shift+click but didn't see it appear.

option-shift-click. I just tested here to make sure it works.
