Roland HH Controller on Yamaha Module?

Hi!
This question is not exactly related to Edrumin and is very specific, but I know here are many people who know much more about E-drums than I do so maybe someone can help me...
Has anyone found a way to use a continuous Hi Hat Controller like the Roland FD-7 to FD-9, VH-10 to VH-13 or the Goedrum Controller on a Yamaha Module?
I am using a Yamaha DTX Multi 12, sometimes in combination with Edrumin and sometimes without, triggering SD3.
When I'm using it without Edrumin it seems to be limited to Yamaha Hi Hat Controllers, as Roland uses different wiring and resistance (I believe?)
I tried plugging an FD-7 into the HH Ctrl on the DTX M-12 using a TRS cable without success. Read somewhere, that if you don't plug it all the way in it works, but it doesn't and wouldn't be a good enough solution if it did.
Now my idea is to use the "Foot Sw" input on the DTX M-12 with an expression or continuous sustain pedal to control CC4 MIDI messages. While this may work to send continuous CC4 to SD3 it sucks to play Hi Hat on a sustain or expression pedal..
So...
1.: Is there any way to use a Roland HH Controller with a Yamaha Module (i.e. using an adapter)?
2.: Is there any way to modify a Roland HH Controller to act as an expression pedal so I can plug it into the Foot Sw of the DTX M-12? (or is this idea complete nonsense )
Thank you,
Daniel
