Power supply

Hi. I just ordered an eDrumin4.
I am wonder about the power. I read that it can be powered through USB.
Rather than getting a power supply, I would like to know whether I can simply plug that USB cable into one of the USB charging ports on a power distribution block and provide power that way, rather than have a permanent laptop next to the drumkit.
(I am going to use the eDrumin as signal converter for my Alesis Crimson II kit. I am buying a Roland compatible ride and want to connect that into the Crimson module using the eDrumin. The Crimson II 3-zone ride has only a single connector and is definitely not electrical compatible with Roland rides.)
