Footswitch to change banks

Post by Pim »

Hi Rob,

It's been a while. I ordered an eDrumin 10 and it will arrive next Tuesday (yay). I would like to use a footswitch in the second hihat input to change note banks. But the cable is attached to the footswitch and it is mono. My question is: Will using the footswitch with a mono cable in the stereo hihat input damage the eDrumin 10? Or will it work to cycle through the note banks?

Best regards,
Pim

A mono footswitch using a TS cable perfectly fine. It will be detected as a sustain pedal and automatically setup for bank changes.

Hi again,

Thanks for the fast reply. It finally arrived.
I'm impressed by the eDrumin 10, it's a great little device, thanks for developing it, no more huge modules needed.

I tried out the footswitch in the 2nd pedal input. I managed to change banks if I set it to "Cur" to change the bank of the currently selected pad. Also setting it to "1" changes the bank of the pad in input 1, "2" changes the bank of the pad in input 2 and so forth.

But when I select "ALL" it should change the banks of all the pads that are plugged into the 10 inputs of the ED10, right? (At least that's how I understood the manual)
Every time I use the option "ALL", only the bank of the 3rd pad in the upper row is changed...all the other pads/banks stay the same. Also if I select any other pad, as soon as I press the switch to change the bank when using "ALL", this pad (upper row, 3rd pad) is being selected automatically...even when no pad is plugged into this input.

Have I found a bug? Or is my footwitch faulty (although the other modes like "cur", "1" etc. seem to work as intended)? Or is it because I'm using a mono cable (I cannot change it because it's part of the really cheap footswitch)? Or did I misinterpret the manual and it's not possible to change banks of all 10 pads simultaniously?

I am using the firmware "Version 1.4.0 build 39" in case you need this information.

Best regards,

Yes, I believe hat's a bug that has been fixed in version 1.5.

Hi,

Thank you. Would it be helpful for you if I installed the beta to confirm that? Usually I would stick to non-beta but I could try on my other laptop if that information would be useful for you.

EDIT: Otherwise I would just wait for the official release of Version 1.5.

It's been my experience that eDrumIn beta releases have been extremely stable. Even in the case of an unforeseen glitch, Rob has typically sent out updates within hours. So if this is a feature you need and it's reportedly fixed in the current beta release, I'd highly recommend you download and install it. The risk will be minimal.
