Thanks for the tips. I actually already did reset the eDRUMin to factory settings, re-updated the firmware, and upgraded to the latest beta of the control application. I also turned off my Mimic for now and will deal with trying to trigger that later. I appreciate the step-by-step approach you offered - in particular, I think I had the HSS settings backward in regards to thresh, so I'll see if setting it lower helps.

I also found it easier to let SD3 do its thing and always match the eDRUMIn to what SD3 has. I don’t think I have ever used the drum map. It is so easy to click and drag the note controls up and down I just use them.

Well, I'm at a loss. Even with HSS thresh set to 0 and amount set to 100, I still have a very noticeable hot spot. Hits off-center barely register in terms of volume, and then the drum gets VERY loud on-center. The dynamics are just terrible.

You're getting off the topic of drum maps, and more into the DIY domain.

These features are designed around commercial pads. If your construction is not up to par, you are going to run into issues. There are multiple threads in the technical support, troubleshooting and DIY sub forums about these topics.

Back to the original topic, have you sorted out your note assignments? If you have, what was the problem and are there any changes I can make to improve the situation?

MJB... at this point I’m wondering if your trigger setup is off. It sounds like it is way too hot. Take a look at how high your foam is above the bearing edge. The typical range is anywhere from 1mm to 3mm but in some of my drums I have it almost even with the bearing edge.

I appreciate the thought and agree from a troubleshooting perspective that a hardware issue seems more likely with drums than the MIDI interface. My kit is an A2E conversion that I built with R-Drum center-mounted triggers and drum-tec real feel mesh heads. I tried to be pretty meticulous about things like trigger height and head tension, but of course I could never achieve the type of precision and uniformity seen in a high-quality, factory-built pad. That said, I have plugged my kit into several different modules with good effect (Pearl Mimic Pro, Roland TD-17 and TD-4, ATV aD5).

Yes, I think of sorted out the MIDI note assignments. I stopped trying to get the eDRUMin to correctly trigger my Mimic for now, and focused on SD3. I reset the firmware on the device, upgraded to the latest desktop software beta, and plugged the device directly into the computer (where I was previously using a USB extension cord). Note assignments were pretty seamless after that.

There's a lot of information scattered in the trouble shooting sub forum. Tomorrow I'll take some time to put together a single post talking about troubleshooting hotspot suppression issues.

If that doesn't help, you can contact me via tech support and we can have a better look at what's going on.
