Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
I'm trying to use the Alesis strike module to trigger the components that do not fit in the edrumin anymore. My understanding was to plug it into the host port of the ed10 and it would send midi to my pc but the strike midi isn't showing up in the Ed midi monitor either. It is showing up in the host port config as "alesis strike". What can I do to get the midi from the ed10 and the strike to AD2?

What eDRUMin firmware version are you using?
Re: Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
Latest, just updated yesterday. 2.3.2.30
Re: Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
Hi sorry for the late reply. I can confirm that there isn't a bug forwarding MIDI from devices connected to the host port. The fact that the Strike shows up in the host port config indicates that the eDRUMin is able to see if properly, so I really don't have any idea why it's not working. Can you send me a screenshot of your host port config in the control app.

Hi, no worries!
The screen cap is added.
What does seem to happen is that the midi is sent to the strike instead of my pc. I see things are triggered which are not plugged in.

Re: Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
It's normal for the eDRUMin to send its MIDI to any device connected to the host port. It should also send MIDI from any device connected to the host on to the computer that the eDRUMin is connected to. It would seem that for some strange reason, the strike isn't sending any MIDI to the eDRUMin.
What's even stranger is that the eDRUMin appears to be seeing the Strike as a USB flash drive. Are you using a hub with the Strike and a USB flash drive connected?

Re: Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
I thought that was strange too. I'm not using a hub, it's plugged straight in. The only thing I can think of is the SD card that's in the module but that holds some samples I still like to use. It's circled in the attachment. I can try without the sd card in the strike. The usb port next to it is to connect it to pc, or like I'm doing now the host port of the edrumin.
Besides trying it without SD card, is there anything else you like me to try out?

Re: Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
You could possibly try using version 2.1, which I don't believe had USB flash support. If it works with that version, then I can look at adding an option to disable USB flash support to maintain compatibility.
Re: Alesis strike module does not trigger when plugged into host port
Hi Rob,
the issue does not seem to be the SD card. With it removed the edrumin still sees the strike module as flash drive
