Same trigger, same position but different behaviour?

Post by AndreaZanini »

Hi! I am having a bit of a headache figuring out what I am doing wrong.

I mounted two Drumtec Groovedots in my toms and while I got one to work OK. In the other the 'dots' are reversed and when I strike the center of the head the 'SS' lights up instead of the 'HIT' - Is there a way to reverse those dots.

I also seem to have the same problem with floor tom. Basically the center hit is read as rim, although for this one the dots are the same as my working tom.

Any help would be great.

Most kits have two rack toms and many also have two floor toms. The dots differentiate the two. Ie rack tom1 and rack tom2.

What drum map are you using and what application are you triggering?

Hi Rob, I am triggering Superior Drummer amd using the SD3 map when I select the kit element. My Kick, Snare and Tom1 are working perfectly.

So just to be clear the dots do not affect the hit / sidestick.

For the pad that is trigging the ss when you hit the head, can you please post a screenshot of your settings?

The rim signal is very strong compared to the head, are you sure the trigger is mounted well?

Pretty sure it is. Will try again on both and report here.

Could that affect the way things are read?

It will definitely affect things. When you hit the head of the pad, the left VU meter should generally be higher than the right

Ok seems that clicking on Rack tom 1 first and then rack tom 2 again on the mapping image on the right has 'inverted the trend', where now hitting the center shows HIT (small bug?). I still have some volume issues so I will again try and carefully position the trigger.

Will report here later.
