Add a VH10 to Alesis module and trigger SSD5.5

Post by jpgusgus »

Hi.

Here is my set up.

EDrumin10 (ED10) + Alesis DM10Mkii (DM10) + Windows10 (PC) + Reaper + Steve Slate Drums 5.5 (SSD5)
Before ED10 arrived All Pads plugged into DM10 then DM10 to PC triggering SSD5 just fine.

Now..
DM10 USB-into ED10hostUSB then USB-to PC
unplugged one pad (tom4) from DM10
plugged tom4 into ED10 with TSR cable

only tom4 is editable in ED software.
Is this as it should be?
Is there a method to make pads editable when pads are plugged into DM10 then DM10 to ED10-usbhost).

All pads plugged into DM10 running via usb through ED10 sound like they have new trigger settings (sensitivity, threshold etc) compared to when running direct to PC via usb.
Is this is at should be or am I imagineering that difference?

Editing trigger details in DM10 seems to have no effect now.
Can I still edit trigger details in DM10 even though DM10 now routes through ED10?

I think I may have it routed backwards? I purchased the ED10 to run a VH10 (and eventually a good Roland snare) to trigger SSD...

What is the more correct way to use ED10 to add onto the DM10?
Should DM10 and ED10 both be enabled in Reaper for example?

Thanks!!

No, the eDRUMin can only control pads that are plugged into the eDRUMin.

You're likely imagining things. The eDRUMin will try to apply crosstalk cancellation between itself and the DM10, but if your pads are all connected to the DM10, then this would have no effect. The amount of crosstalk cancellation can however be adjusted within the eDRUMin control application.

Yes. The eDRUMin will not stop your DM10 from functioning normally.

You seem to have it connected properly. With the DM10 connected to the eDRUMin USB host port, only the ED10 needs to be enabled.
