I'm planning ordering an eDrummin when the free shipping will resume in Canada, because it's really expensive now.
I'm currently doing an a2e and I was wondering if I should mount my tom's trigger side mounted or in the center.
My current module doesn't suppress hotspots so it would be better if I side mount them, but I'm willing to live with them if the eDrummin give me rim detection.
So my question is more, is the rim detection supported for side mounted triggers or I need them in the center ? Also is there other pros/cons to place them on the side or in the middle with the eDrummin ?
Note, I'm really talking about the toms and not the snare, that will be center mounted, to use the positional sensing feature.
Thanks a lot

Re: DIY Toms
I ordered single zone side triggers to avoid hot spots (and they were cheaper, and I don't use the rims) - but they're yet to arrive.
I too would like to know if edge sense requires centre mounting or will side work?
The manual isn't clear what the requirements are:
Edge Sense
When the Input Mode is set to ‘Mono’ or ‘Dual Input’, and the Pad Type is a pad...This feature will not work with all pads.

Re: DIY Toms
I've always mounted my toms with side triggers.
Never had a module or bothered with PS in VSTs for toms.
Also, yes, at the time, it was an easy way to not have hot spots.
I've been using the side mounted triggers with the eDrumin for a while now.
The Rim Sense works admirably. I use my toms with one that one side mounted piezo. So, the pad are split mono. Tom1 goes to tip, Tom2 goes to ring, ground to sleeve on both.
Even today, with hot spot suppression, I would still mount the triggers on the side as it is just so easy to do.

Brilliant, the answer we needed. Thanks.perceval wrote: The Rim Sense works admirably.
Edrumin really is a well designed bit of kit.

Re: DIY Toms
Perfect. I started to install them side mounted today
Re: DIY Toms
Anyone know how the Goedrum side mount should be constructed?
They arrived with no instructions.
I'm assuming I stack the plate, 20mm foam, piezo then 10mm foam.
I think the 2 little circle pads are to isolate from the drum shell, but not sure my existing screws will accommodate them.

Re: DIY Toms
I wouldn't use the two felt donuts.
Edrumin is smart enough to differentiate between head hits and rim hits with the different waveforms.
Pretty nifty as it basically eliminates crosstalk between the two zones.

So I shouldn't use a decoupler if I go with edrumin? Nor isolation if single piezo?perceval wrote:I wouldn't use the two felt donuts.

Look on their amazon or eBay page for the trigger set. There is an image with the different steps. It can help.
Re: DIY Toms
I'm not having much joy with these Goedrum triggers. The screw thread is way too short for a wooden shell.
Any ideas?
