Positional Sensing / Hotspot suppression

Hi i'm converting my acoustic kit with an eDrumin 8. I want to know if anyone has managed to get Positional Sensing and Hotspot suppression to work properly with 1 ply mesh heads.
I'm currently using Remo Silentstroke on my snare, a Pearl Sensitone Steel. I have to mention the fact that I'm using a homemade centered trigger that could have some structural imperfection that could make the signal of the piezo not clean as it should to make eDrumin do the job.
The Positional Sensing feature works but... It seems like the eDrumin can't recognize the offset from the center till I'm hitting a lot far away from the center, I would say that it starts to recognize hits away from the center when I hit after the middle of the radius of the snare, if not more far, so i get a very little portion of drum to get positions.
About the Hotspot Suppression feature some time it works and some time it doesn't.
I will upgrade my homemade triggers anyway, but i would like to know how much of the fault is from the trigger and how much is because of the mesh head I'm using since I read that 2 ply mesh heads are recommended over 3 ply and 1 ply is not mentioned at all.
Another thing i think could help understand my situation is that i'm currently using polystyrene to decouple the piezo and the support of the trigger (i know it's not a good material to do so, it's a proprotype and i didn't have any other material) so i think there could be some vibration that disturb the signal.
