FSR sensor vs potentiometer for DIY hi hat controller?

Post by loverchese »

I am looking to upgrade from my expression pedal to a diy hi hat controller. I have two different builds in mind one uses a potentiometer and one uses an FSR. Which offers more realism?

I think the real question should be "Which will hold up over the long run?" I think an FSR or Hall Effect sensor based solution is your best bet as they will have fewer moving parts. And if this is specifically for use with a eDRUMin, then a hall sensor solution is the best way to go in my opinion, For a while I was selling simply sensor modules that could be connected to the eDRUMin. I've bought more of the sensors and some point I'll make another batch.
