Now I’m thinking g my problem lies with the 35mm piezo and trimpot combo. Basically the threshold meter on HSS is never activated. And I have a pretty bad hot spot still despite tension and height of cone changes. I’m pretty sure I’m all good there. This is abnormal, right? I’m going to switch it for a 27mm and report back.

Welcome to my world :)
Make sure your tension is tight.

Do you see if the hotspot clip? If yes the HSS can't detect because it doesn't see all the signal.

The tension is definitely tight enough. And yes it is clipping. I’ve got it switched to a 27mm. Just need to unhook the trimpots and hopefully test today.
