Side trigger hot spots.

Post by MWJT42 »

Mine are awful, especially on a 10" tom.

Unless I only ever hit the centre, it's very clear where the trigger is placed. Not what I expected, and way worse than centre mounted snare.

Anything I, or eDRUMin, can do about this?

If you can, try mounting them with the trigger at the bottom - because of the height of the rims it should make it impossible to hit the trigger directly. This worked for my Alesis toms.

Ah, good plan. Thanks.

Ah the ole fallacy that a side mounted trigger eliminates the hot spot. A side mounted trigger doesn’t eliminate anything, it just moves the hot spot to a place less likely to be hit. But as in your case, and any case with a small 8” or 10” drum, a side mounted trigger still sticks way out into the drum.
