Came up with adjustable arm to hold my Hall effect sensor

Post by dsteinschneider »

A vdrums.com forum member asked me to provide him with a hall effect sensor and magnets as a trade for a UFO ebridge. I didn't want to send him one that he coudn't easily adjust the vertical and horizontal placement so I came up this solution:

The clamp is from a company called SmallRig. I already owned it for clamping an old phone I use as a metronome to the kit. The aluminum strut came from an old computer chassis. The tape on the hihat leg is so I can take it off and put it back right where I had it before. This is a prototype - I'm going to recreate it with a slightly stiffer strip of black metal. I'll also replace the 1/4 20 camera arm attachment with a hex screw like the other one. Being able to adjust the placement of the sensor allowed me to double the width of the green bar when you calibrate it. Definitely plays better now.
