Very interesting design, but I still don't know the difference with Goedrum controller :(

Which is better and why?
The goedrum controller is reasonably priced and apparently a robust design. It's easy to install. You don't have to figure out how to mount the sensor or magnet.

So the DIY route only costs a few bucks in parts but you have to work out the mounting and solder the leads. Vdrums user Eddie Halen's design where you solder the sensor leads directly to a female TRS jack and then zip tie that to the stirrup is about as simple as it gets. Mounting the magnet to the end of the rod will vary with each stand but I think Eddie Halen is just using the magnetic force to hold it in place on his stand.
Yes his design is very nice.

Since both seems to have pretty identical results I might try to build one for fun. It's so cheap
