DIY (metal) High Hat options

Post by MWJT42 »

I'm in the process of converting some LV cymbals and wish to build a 'proper' high hat.

I had thought to use my current Goedrum GHC high hat controller, and augment it with this 3D printed component from Project Beats to allow space for the lower cymbal:

But, with the eDRUMin 'impact' option, is there another way using just a piezo on the bottom cymbal or something like that? Forgive my ignorance, I have no idea now the VH13 type hat actually works!

Thanks.

Using the impact method, you don't need a second piezo, if that's what you are asking.

How does it work? Is this a DIYable method? Just exploring options
