positional sensing advice/settings for Snare

Post by bpjacobsen »

I have not been using positional sensing on my snare but considering trying it. I had enabled it a while back when I first started setting up ED and felt like it was wonky and turned it off. Prob just need help with how to adjust. Also, what is required for it to work properly? My Snare has a 3 cone array for the head wired in series, and a couple of piezos mounted on the side for the rim. So rim clicks work pretty flawlessly and head. Would be cool if I could actually get the rim shots and snare edge etc for a more dynamic and realistic snare experience. Any advice for making this work is welcome please.

I modeled the 3 cone positional sensing on the ATV ad13-s and Roland PDA-120LS. Do they also wire their peizos in serials?

I would assume they are wired in parallel, but I don't really know either. I'll try and have a look at the wiring.tomorrow.

So how does being wired in Parallel vs Series affect positional sensing?

Not sure and I'm not going to rewire my snares to find out.

I don't expect you to re-wire anything Rob. Can you at least tell me if eDrumin is programmed for piezos wired in parallel? Is your snare in parallel? If so, I may just re-wire mine when I feel up to it. Would be nice to get PS working. get the most out of the realism.

It looks like the ATV s13 piezos are wired in parallel:
