2 piece hi hat

Post by Rabidreject »

okay so I made a full set of cymbals and I also got worried so bought another 14" LV HH and got the Goedrum kit. Surpringly the kit just stopped being recognised and it had an exclamation mark next to it but mine is ok (ish).

It triggers a hit when you open it with your foot. Any ideas? At the mo the piezo is stick with a thick 3m pad to the very bell section then taoped over.

It is just really annoying having it signal a hit when I open it with my foot.
All the other 4 cymbals are great and work perfectly - I even made my own trigger boxes so they look respectable from the underneath, its just this bloody 2 piece HH.

Oh by the way,, i'm using the black plastic housing from a 1/4' jack plug to 'extend' the goedrum HH controller so maybe to do with that? I can do video and pics if needed 0- my kit does look sweet atm!

I have a video and a whole section in the manual about setting the hihat on a hihat stand. You can resolve your problem by making sure there is no gap between the bottom face of the top hat and the plunger.

Can you link me to the video or point me to the part of the manual at all?
Do you mean the bottom of the top hat has to be in line with the extender on the plunger on the hi hat controller?

I’m a little confused there rob…
Thanks a lot for the response though. It’s v temperamental, sometimes it’ll work, sometimes it’ll bring up and error and I just have to click the switch/piezo - piezo/piezo button twice and it works again. V odd…same goes for the actual goedrum set too.

This worked best for me, only top hihat is used and controller is in hihat stand, very little movement is needed in pedal.
And better positioning with double pedal.
