Center piezos, no detection of the ring

Post by Abou »

Hello !

I've made a dual piezo system with a center piezo on a center bar (small piezo) and an other piezo (35mm) for the rim. I followed the wiring diagram (Roland style) founded in the user manual of the edrumin (I have two little edrumin 4). With stereo output Jack and stereo câble.

The hit detection works fine. But i can't find the way to have sidestick and rimshot detection. In the sense control, the indicator stays always on the left... When I play the ring of the drum, it triggers the hit.

Does anybody have an idea to make it working like it should ?

Thanks in advance !

Thanks for the screenshot. In the transient there are two waveforms. The pale yellow is the head sensor and the bright yellow is the rim sensor. You can see that there is signal coming in the from the rim sensor (except a tiny bit of noise). It looks like you have a wiring issue.

Hello,

Thanks for your help !

I replace the rim piezo by a new one, and triple check the wiring (the Roland style)... still have the problem. Are you sure that the diagram in your pdf is good ? This is strange that the wire of the center side of the head piezo is black, not red.

Is there any possibility of the edrumin being harmed by just trying every wiring permutation (as I recall you'd at least want to turn off the unit between each permutation as it does some autosensing on boot.)
