Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger

I installed my center cone drone trigger today, it has 5 arms and rim piezo attached to the shell. I’m setting up positional sensing but watching the video Rob posted about it the center hits should land on the black bar right to the green rectangle, but in my snare all my center hits light up the green rectangle and when going to the edge it’s weird but it starts going to the black center hit area and finally when reaching the edge it jumps all the way left of the green rectangle Triggering the edge sample correctly.
So basically I have only off center hits and edge hits but almost no center hits. What can I do? Head is pretty tight.

Sorry in case you have tried this, but you do know the green bar is movable? (no mention of that in your post!)

Hit the centre, and move green out of the way of where it shows, then work out the other end to suit.

Also, make sure your software is reset to default snare CC first. You can always tweak that later.

Yeah I drag the green bar but I ended up with a really small green bar with no variation in hits so I end up with just center and edge hits...

I’m using the default cc snare 16 snare trigger articulation

What software? Does it definitely have the off centre tone?

Some software also has a version of the green bar that might be fighting with yours. SD3 has a vertical editable option in the midi settings for example.

And a small green bar is ok, but you’re aware both sizes are editable? As most software only triggers 3 different tones anyway, the variation within a zone isn’t that meaningful.

Forget the green bar for now. Send 3 screen shots of centre, off centre and edge response and we’ll see what it’s doing.

Side note, did you get rimshot and side stick dialled in ok?

Make sure your thresh is nice a low, and you probably need to play around with the tension, making very small adjustments. As the vibrations travel through the mesh head, there's constructive and destructive interference. If the tension isn't optimal, that interference can lead to issues reading the shape of the waveform.

Nope, tried everything and still center hits trigger off center, I’ve spent a good 3 hours trying to dial it up, opening and reopening the snare to change the cone height, I should stop buying for things announced as roland compatible but in the end they are 75% compatible...

Going back to a side trigger, positional sensing is overrated :)

Before you dismantle, can you send a screenshot?

I just orderd a DDT snare, at least that works great in Robs positional sensing video

What size is your center piezo? I was getting similar results when a direct strike on the cone was giving an off center position. It was also maxing out the gain and no amount hotspot suppression would help. I was using a 35mm piezo. My thought was that the larger piezo was just too sensitive for the edrumin. So I added a trimpot to dial down the sensitivity. This worked wonders. Much more accurate ps and the hotspot suppression worked better.
