So I'm not sure if I set it up wrong, or if the display is off, or what. But whenever I activate Hotspot Suppression, I swear my hotspots get more pronounced, not less, and indeed, whenever I hit a pad closer to the edge, the Amount dial lights up where it doesn't when I deliberately hit the center of a pad. Almost as if the functionality is reversed?
I end up just leaving the feature disabled, because I get better results (more even velocities) that way and the hotspotting seems non-existent that way (certainly when compared to my old TD-9.)
EDIT: My Tresh value is 20, and Suppression Amount is 50. This is on both my PD-120 snare pad, and the three PD-80R toms.

What pad are you using?

Re: Hotspot Suppression
I'm heading out the door, but I'll get back to you later.
Re: Hotspot Suppression
I’m in the same boat as monospace. I’m using Jobeky’s AI center mounted trigger in my snare and any adjustments I make seem to have no effect. I understand the concept but it doesn’t seem to do anything.
Re: Hotspot Suppression
It uses waveform analysis and therefore depends a lot on the head tension of your pads. Works well with my Roland PD-125 and ddt-140. For the ddt, I never adjusted the tension. For the pd-125, I tightened it slightly, but hotspot suppression was working well even before tightening it.
Both these pads have the spider web style bracing for the sensor with the 'rim' piezo mounted underneath.
But if you aren't having any hotspotting issues, then there's no sense in trying to fix it.

Re: Hotspot Suppression
My old TD-9 was terrible with hotspots. Even without the suppression feature enabled, the eDrumIn seems to have virtually eliminated them. For what it's worth, the mesh on my snare pad is as tight as I can get it, the mesh on my toms have a little bit more give (but still fairly tight.)
But since this feature exists, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm definitely getting reduced volume when I hit away from the center, which does't seem right.
If it matters, I'm using Positional Sensing on the snare pad (which works a treat), but not on the toms.

Re: Hotspot Suppression
I tightened the head on my snare and hotspot suppression and positional sensing improved pretty dramatically. Thanks for the tip.
Re: Hotspot Suppression
So I went and re-read the manual (as one does!) and this short paragraph caught my eye:
I suppose this toggle inadvertently got switched around at some point. I now see the "Amount" dial light up when I hit the center of a pad, and the response is much more even.
EDIT: turning on the "Yamaha" toggle doesn't seem to interfere with the Rim/Sidestick Sensing or the Positional Sensing.
So on a lark, I clicked the Yamaha toggle, even though I have Roland pads, and lo and behold, Hotspot Suppression is now working properly!Yamaha Wiring Toggle
eDRUMin devices support both Roland and Yamaha style wiring. Some of the Sensing
Controls need to know how the pad is wired in order to work properly. If, for example,
the Hotspot Suppression is not working well for you, it could be that you need to toggle
this switch.
