Hotspot suppress

I'm slowly calibrating my 2-eDRUMin units.
I'm using a Jobeky AI bar trigger with Drumtec Real feel head on my snare.

I have hotspotting at the trigger location but when I turn on hotspot suppress and hit the snare, nothing registers in the "thresh" indicator or it's super faint, maybe 1-2 if any. Gain is at 1.0, thresh 1.0, scan 3.0ms, hold 10.0ms.

I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong and this might be related to my noob trigger install experience...how much pressure/force should be applied to the trigger by the mesh head?

Thanks

How's the tensioning on your pad? Is your signal clipping? These kinds of issues can prevent hotspot suppression from working properly.

Thanks Rob! I think the tension was too low. I tightened it and got better readings in the hotspot thresh indicator. I'll play around more and see.
Now I need to re-adjust the side stick threshold...

I also noticed in SD3 I have to turn up the 'soft hit levels' in the software to make it sound more uniform between soft and hard hits.

I would instead use the eDRUMin velocity curves for that purpose, but to each his own.

SD only has 7 bit velocity data, whereas the eDRUMin internally uses 10bit. Applying velocity curves to 10 bit velocities is going to give you more expressiveness.

I notice that a lot of hits don’t register in the threshold indicator. It still works pretty well though and thought this was normal. Should all hits register something in the threshold indicator?

Yes, that's normal. Not all hits will register in that thresh indicator.
