eDRUMin Note Banks and SD3

Post by Mylo »

So how are you SD3 guys taking advantage of the note banks. So, say you have a snare setup with all four banks with different notes. Are you adding four different snares to you SD3 kit so you can trigger them from the different not banks?

Im running a two button footswitch next to my kick pedal that lets me switch between 4 different kick drums and also In the throws of trying to design a switching system to mount into my snare to allow me to cycle through 4 different snare drums. This is a game changer for me as reaching for the mouse just ruins the fun of playing. Couldnt do it without SD3 though. Who has a 4gb kit loaded with 4 kick drums and 4 snares?????? lol. Brilliant software.

Ill probably use this switch mounted in the vent hole of my ludwig converted snare to change banks. Ill fit the two 1/4 inch jacks to the bottom reso head. I really just want to avoid drilling un neccessary holes in the shell.

So that is my question... in SD3 you have four bass drums and four snares loaded in your kit?

What I want to be able to do is send SD3 a MIDI message and have it load the next preset. How is a feature like this not implemented?

Its funny, two weeks ago I was designing a switching system to physically switch between two seperate inputs on the edrumin to allow me to have two snares at the flick of a switch. Now the new firmware comes along and I have 4 snares and 4 kicks all with the push of a button. Ive never been so happy with a piece of equiptment before!

I think I’m getting this now. So you have three devices. Device 1 controller has your hi-hat, device 2 controller is wired to your snare switch and device 3 controller is wired to the bass switch. Right?

I currently have two controller inputs open. I have a Yamaha FC7 arriving today. I plan many experiments with it. One is to try to control an SD3 macro to see if I can do things like control tuning of a drum. I’m thinking it would be cool to get the Hansa SDX, hook up the rototoms and then use the pedal to change the tuning while playing. Of course I could also play with FX properties and just do all kinds of wild things.

And of course... I need to be able to switch to another note bank to switch my toms to the rototoms.

These ideas are still forming in my head. I’m not sure which would be better... use the controllers to switch banks or to exercise SD3 macros and change banks with the controller software.

This would be nice. So clicking a switch would load up an entirely new set?

Another question. Can the controller input be split between the hi-hat controller and a switch so I can control the hi-hat and yet still use a switch to change note banks?

Right now I have a device with my hi-hat and several cymbals attached. Since I’m using the hi-hat controller already I have to use the software to change the note banks for the cymbals. Correct?

Hardware wise, the pedal input is capable of processing a hihat controller and a switch simultaneously, but it's not implemented and it won't be easy to implement. It's something I'm interested in, but I make no promises.
