Millenium MPS-850 / Alesis compatible?

Hi folks,

I got a Millenium MPS-850 from a huge German music store.
And its basically an Alesis Module and the pads look pretty much like Alesis, also the trigger mechanism, the four rods.

My problem is the HiHat Controller or actually the Controller. Its working and delivers voltage between 0 and 3.4 V. But the drum module send a HiHat Pedal note at a cc04 value if 78.
Software bug? With your device i would like to generate a good cc04 signal without the closed pedal note and go directly to the EZDrummer 2. Would that be possible... And i have several extra pad inputs.

Greetings from Germany

Manuel

Why don't you want the pedal note? You can use the travel control adjust at what point you want the note generated
You currently can't disable it, but you could just set it to something that isn't assigned to any sounds in ED2.

Hi Rob,

I want it, but at 127, when the pedal is fully pressed.

Or is it always implemented like that? No, that doen't Sound good.
I press the pedal slowly, for some hi hat "solo", and you get that "chic" sound and after that you have
those open hihat samples again...

Yeah, silencing was my approach, too. But I thought the EZdrummer uses the cc04 to create a pedal note an cc04 127 it doen't.
Hm, Im using Plogue Bidule to do all the remapping, filtering , maybe there is an Options to generate a note at a certain
cc04 value ...

Another idea is to order your single pedal to usb device going directly through Bidule to EZDrummer.
When thinking about it now... no, I will have no pedal pressed note too.

But nevertheless, your module is great. The shiping time is a problem :-(.

If you're pressing slowly and still getting a sound, you can turn up the min thresh control. Turning down the gain control should also help.

No, this drum modul is a cheap one.
I can just adjust the sensitivity, curve and the note.
:-(

Hi,

I'd say the module is everything but cheap/low quality. You need to adjust the settings of the pedal, not the hihat pad itself. Maybe that solves your problem?

Best regards,
Pim

But the the output of the pedal is correct.

Am I right, saying: pedal closed note an cc04=127?
That makes sense, doesn't it?

The pedal generates the right voltages, signals and the drum modul is converting it to a proper
cc04 value, but the on-bord analysis and triggering gives a wrong MIDI event...

Damn.

To be honest, I can't really follow what your saying, especially with "pedal closed note". When I set up my hihat, I had to assign the correct midi notes of my hihat pad to the corresponding midi notes of my VST (which is Steven Slate Drums 5).
Then I had to select the *Pedal Editor* on the left bar and assign a pedal note which had to correspond to the CC hihat midi note of my VST...this took me some trial and error to find the right one because
a) it wasn't stated explicitly in the manual of the eDrumin as with other VSTs like SD3, BFD3 and Addictive Drums
b) SSD5 is in itself, is not always self-explanatory. Mapping anything with(in) SSD5 has always been its weakest point.

For anyone who wants to know, here are the Midi notes to get the hihat running in SSD5:

PEDAL
Pedal note: D0
Splash: C#4
CC: 4
Channel: 10

HIHAT PAD
Edge: D0
Bow: A#1

As you can see, opposite to the other VSTs mentioned in the eDrumin manual, the same midi note (D0) has to be assigned twice with SSD5.

Maybe you just need to change the Midi notes correctly for your VST EZDrummer?

What you could also try to figure out the cause of the problem:
Don't use the remapping VST that you mentioned, Bidule.
Just try it once without it and see if it works then.

Maybe it's the wrong midi assignments in the eDrumin that dont match your VST, or maybe it's the remapping vst causing the problem? Would be worth to find out which one it is.

I do not have those presets/preferences.
thats why I am saying it's a cheap drum module. :-)

I cannot go into detailed settings only sensitivity, threshold, the midi note, voice of course, Xtalk, reTrig cancel...

The problem is: The pedal note is send before I pressed it all the way down.
It gives a "chic" and later on you here the "open" samples again and when it's actually fully pressed there is no articulation.

But with the Plogue Bidule Software, i think i can work around that Problem. I will actually mute the pedal note from the drum module
and convert the cc04 to a parameter 0..1 and if it's 1 i will create the pedal note from that parameter. I hope that works.

I still don't understand your setup. Why would you still use your MPS module from Thomann when you have an eDrumin?

EDIT: Or maybe I misunderstood you from the start. Do you even own an eDrumin?

If not: I had a similar drum set as yours (just from Fame/Musicstore instead of Thomann). With this cheap Fame module, the hihat didn't work well at all when using the module for MIDI to use with a VST. Maybe you ran into the same problem with your Thomann module.
