3 edrumin units.....thats a nice surprise.

So I ordered another 2 edrumin units on 12th Dec and they arrived today! But the big surprise was the ease of setup. I'm using a passive USB hub and short USB leads to the 3 modules.
I literally pulled every plug from my megadrum and replaced it with the 3 modules. I was up and running with a setup and trigger response you could gig with in under 15 minutes. Painless and easy. ZERO crosstalk issues. Truth be told I havent even looked at a crosstalk setting on any of the modules. Every setting is stock
The sums look ok for a passive hub based on current draw but is anyone else running more than one confirm if a passive hub will do the job long term?
I'm kicking myself thinking about the days I spent learning how to setup the megadrum and tweaking it. After 4 months there were still a few things that I still wasn't happy with. My time is worth way more that 3 edrumin units. Very happy drummer here, thanks Rob for a great product.

Each USB port on a passive 4 port hub will likely supply 100ma. Each eDRUMin takes about 66 ma, so you should be fine in theory. I'll do some tests tomorrow for you.

Thanks for sharing your success with edrumin. Like you, I put in a ton tweaking to get megadrum to work well so I'm really interested in people with the same experience and how edrumin compares.
Ironically, because I was never really happy with how the hats and ride worked with megadrum, I eventually starting using zildgian low volume for hats and ride and miking them. So now the rest of my kit (kick, snare, 3 toms) will all "fit" into single edrumin.
Do you think your usb hub approach introduces any additional latency? With the megadrum, I have 4ms of latency from the time a trigger is hit to the time the midi event appears in the my DAW. Thats really good, and maybe about as good as it gets since you at least have to scan the trigger for 2 ms.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the eDRUMin.
Mine arrived today so Merry Christmas me. Family obligations are keeping me from setting it up until tomorrow. I’m pretty psyched.

The hub has no perceivable effect on the latency. Im getting 1.9ms with my audio setup plus whatever the edrumin adds to the time. 2-3ms from my average settings. It feels really crisp and tight to play. As you mentioned the hi hat operation with the megadrum just wasn't great, pad triggered fine but the pedal setup just felt clunky even with a hall effect setup. Couldnt for the life of me get smooth sounding transitions between open and closed. Dont even ask me about chick and splash sounds. lol. Since moving to the edrumin Ive trasnsitioned to a Roland pedal and my ATV14" hat on a fixed clutch. I play right handed but I like the open handed feel of having my hats closer to my rack tom so Im not crossing over. This setup allows me to keep the pedal in a comfortable position but the hats where I need them to be. The response with the edrumin is outstanding.

Luckily mine came Christmas Eve so I only had to find 15 minutes to get it setup and working. It would take until next Christmas to get a megadrum working as well. lol.
