Y-splitter - which cables do I need?

Got an eDRUMin 10 and all pads are connected to dedicated ports, on stereo cables.
I need to free up some ports, moving to a splitter cable.
Do I need to switch to mono cables when splitting?
I ask because (other than the kick drum) I don't actually have any mono cables.

No, you do not need to use mono cables. A splitter cable will combine two stereo cables just fine.

I've use the Hosa YPP-177 splitter - 1/4 TS Female (L), 1/4 TS Female (R) to 1/4 TRS Male

Thanks. Do you mean the YPP-117?
If so, that is the one I ordered a couple of days ago.
I asked about the mono cables because how is TIP and RING handled with a splitter if I used a stereo cable?
i.e. let's say I have a tom:
*) tip - mesh pad trigger
*) ring - rim trigger
and I want the mesh, but not the rim.
How does the eDRUMin know which one I want, when using a splitter?
i.e. how do I make sure I get the mesh trigger signal, and not the rim signal from the tom.

The slitter will combine the two tip connections of the TRS cables plugged into its dual mono end. It'll place one of the them on its tip connection and the other on its ring connection.
