ED4 issue with midi mapping
I have two ED8 and finally just got an ED4 to complete my kit. However, 2 out of the 8 pads are seemingly mapped to the same thing as my hi hat. So if I change the midi number in EDrummin to what it should be, then the hi hat also plays that sound (blocks) I tried the midi learn in SD3 and thought I had it fixed until I realized the blocks were playing on the hi hat. all other pads work perfectly. I had been updating the midi mapping in SD3 per project to match what registers in ED software. but for some reason, unlike the two ED8s, the ED4 was not showing different notes per pad. It's like they were all the same, so I had to set custom notes on those to match SD3 which worked fine on 6 out of 8 pads. but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to separate out the hi hat from two of my 5 jam block pads. I have the ED4 connected via USB directly to it's own usb port in the pc b/c apparently I can't seem to daisy chain it to the available usb port on one of the ED8?? It appears that ED4 can only be connected directly to the PC?? HELP! please
Re: ED4 issue with midi mapping
I had the ED10 then the ED4 connected to its USB port daisy chained. So, pretty sure it works.
When you have sounds playing on the wrong pad, it is a MIDI note issue.
Take a step back. Take a breath.
My advice would be to set one (either the ED units or SD3) with all the different notes (and sounds) you want to play.
Then, match the other to the first one.
Also, be on the lookout that SD3 has multiple MIDI notes set to a sound. You need to make sure there's only one in there. Delete all the unwanted notes from each sound. That happened to me once. For example, the HH chick had 3 different notes for playing it, and of course, one of them was used by my ED unit to trigger something else.

Re: ED4 issue with midi mapping
come to think of it, I did notice there were multiple midi notes tied to the HH. Like I said, everything works except for 2 pads. so I'm right there. Just gotta sort out this sharing of notes between the HH and the two block pads. You might be onto something though with the multiple note thing. Just wish I coulda not had this issue but I guess it's still better than it doing this on all 8 pads.
As for the daisy chain, I had plugged the ED4 into the open USB port on the one ED8. then that ED8 was connected to the 2nd ED8. then that 2nd ED8 was connected to the PC. but it was not picking up all 3 units. I feel like doing it that way might fix my mapping issue too since the system would automatically assign different notes per pad like it did with the two connected ED8s. Any thoughts why the app was not picking up all 3 units?

Re: ED4 issue with midi mapping
Perhaps including some screenshots would help us see what's going wrong. As for daisychaining, the way you are doing it is not supported. You should connect a USB hub to one of your ED8, and then plug the ED4 and the other ED8 into the hub.

Re: ED4 issue with midi mapping
no need, I'm good now. What I ended up doing is I decided to just set the midi number in ED for the blocks to 0,2,3,4,5 since those notes are not used in SD3, then I can just assign them in SD3 midi mapping to the correct sounds without messing anything else up. I'm more than halfway through my projects so it's really pretty quick. Then as I add more projects I will be able to get all pads working right off the bat. Thanks all for the 'input'
