eDi version: 2.3.0.12
I'm getting weird trigger results from a Roland CY-13R cymbal pad which is set as a Roland 3-zone cymbal pad (connected with both cables = 2 eDi trigger inputs -> one shows "BELL" in the eDi software).
Issue: the BELL articulation triggers (randomly + very often) when hitting the BOW quite hard (when hitting the BOW very hard, only BELL notes show up). This makes no sense as the pad is connected via 2 separate cables in order to get the performance from the BELL Switch (this is the way it works with Roland modules). When hitting the BOW (even when hitting hard!) the BELL Switch definitely does not engage. So what's going on there?
No eDi setting (or calibration) helps. I've tested that particular CY-13R with a Roland module and the BOW + BELL trigger as they should --> so I'm sure that the cymbal pad is not faulty.

The switch defiantly does activate, otherwise you wouldn't be hearing bell notes. I'll take a closer look at the software filtering for the bell switch. This is with an ED8?Cartman1227 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 8:17 pmWhen hitting the BOW (even when hitting hard!) the BELL Switch definitely does not engage.

Can you give build 14 a try. Make sure you also update the firmware by clicking on the orange exclamation mark in the bottom left corner of the UI.

Re: buggy BOW / BELL performance from a 3-zone Roland CY-13R cymbal pad
All right, build 14 fixed that major bug. Thanks.
What baffles me here is the fact that there are now (and already have been since two or more years) a large number of eDRUMin users; of which surely many also have a 3-zone cymbal pad (like CY-13R) with a 2-cable system running.
Can it really be that none of them noticed within at least almost a year and a half (the bug exists at least since version 2.0.1.3) that their 3-zone ride cymbal doesn't work properly regarding BOW and BELL? What's up with eDi users?
...This thought is very strange to me.

Your cymbal is probably well worn.

Just to be clear, build 14 resolved the issue right?

Re: buggy BOW / BELL performance from a 3-zone Roland CY-13R cymbal pad
I’ve had an old CY-15R which has been doing exactly this behaviour for ages. I don’t have a Roland module any more to test it against the eDRUMin, so I put it down to age. I opened it up and cleaned the edge sensor but nothing changed. Roland cymbals do get a built up of rubber ‘dust’ on the edge sensor over time, which can effect the triggering performance. I’ve had to clean a few in my time. When the bell sound gets stuck on the edge, it’s only an almighty whack to the edge of the cymbal which switches it off! Very hit and miss…Cartman1227 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 4:21 pmWhat baffles me here is the fact that there are now (and already have been since two or more years) a large number of eDRUMin users; of which surely many also have a 3-zone cymbal pad (like CY-13R) with a 2-cable system running.

Anyway, I’m moving to a GEWA 18” and praying Rob will one day will tweak the 3-zone Yamaha setting and introduce official support for GEWA.
