edrumin 4 input/splitter questions

Post by food »

Hi all - thanks for hosting this great forum.

Waiting for my edrumin 4 to come in and am wondering about how to strategize my inputs with splitters. I'll have: kick, 2-zone snare, tom1, tom2, hi hat, a crash and a ride. I know I can run the kick, toms, and hi hat through splitters, but strategizing the other two input jacks has me scratching my head.

Would it be a better idea to run the snare and a crash cymbal through a splitter? I would forgo rim shots and just use the head piezo for positional sensing and cross-stick detection, which would allow full functionality of a 3-zone ride using its own input (thinking a Yamaha PCY-155). I'm not a big rim shot guy, so no great loss ... Or do I go for full snare functionality and run the cymbals through a splitter? I believe Rob said this would require two identical cymbals in the same splitter to use bell sense. But would only get 2 zones each at best. Right?

Let me know if I'm missing anything here. Thanks!

Having a natural feeling snare makes the most difference IMO, so unless you need a consistent Ride Bell or Edge (which is also possible with bell/edge sense anyway), I would go:

1. Snare 2 zone
2. Hat, Kick
3. Tom 1, Tom 2
4. Crash, Ride

Thanks for the input - I think you're right. Can always mess around with it once everything comes in
