eDRUMin 2.0.2 BETA Available

eDRUMin version 2.0.2 is available for testing. This version includes some planned features for version 2.0 that weren't finished in time, and more importantly support for ED4R4 (more on that below). Anyone who wishes to downgrade from this version to version 2.0.1 or below will have their devices factory reset, so I advise saving a device preset in version 2.0.1 so you can recover your settings if you need to.

Due to part shortages, I had to swap out some components for ED4 and that has required me to use a slightly different version of the firmware and hence the ED4R4 revision. Functionally ED4R4 is no different from ED4R3, but anyone purchasing an ED4R4 will be required to use as least version 2.0.2 of the Control Application.

New Features
  • Trigger inputs can now send control change messages (advanced mode).
  • Added Record Assist (advanced mode).
Other changes
  • Increased the resolution of the HOLD time control.
  • Cosmetic Sense control layout improvements for cymbals.
  • Added Shift-Click bell input to force reset button to appear(JIC).
  • Support for ED4R4
  • Updated the user manual.

Things to watch out for
Because I adjusted the resolution of the HOLD time setting, all presets saved with previous versions of the control application need to be updated on the fly to compensate for this change. If you notice any presets are not loading the HOLD time correctly, please let me know.

Here's an excerpt from the updated manual explain the control change and record assist features.

Trigger inputs sending CC messages, awesome.

Will bank changes be able to send CC too, please? (still desperate for an easy snare throw off button, that mutes the snare buzz track) thanks.

No, but assuming you have a dual foot switch attached (or two sustain pedals connected with a splitter), you could have one switch changing banks and the other controlling a CC to mute your snare buzz track.

Ok, thank Rob.

So, mechanically I could make one push activate 2 switches.

Am I being daft, or would there also be a way to solder a single switch cable with a stereo plug to achieve the same, please?

For reference I'm using an Piko switch, (http://www.inclusive.co.uk/piko-button-50-p4957) controlled by a hand press on the side of my snare (like a throw off!), although it's not doing anything cleverer than closing a circuit.

Thanks, Mike

Ya, connecting that switch to both the tip and ring of a TRS cable would allow you to do change banks and send a CC at the same time, but I still think you would be better off with two switches because with only one switch you are bound to have issues keeping the current bank and CC value properly synchronized.

Brilliant, thanks! I'll give it a go, but I hear you; there can be no error checking / repair with that set up, although I can change an out-of-sync muted track within SD3 reasonably easily ok.

Out of interest, can you change banks within the eDRUMin UI (e.g. without a switch press?) -just thinking assigning keyboard shortcuts could be a powerful addition to the interface, allowing for fun scripting opportunities using autohotkey / voiceattack etc.

Hi Rob and everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster (every time I've needed help/had a bug, or thought I could help, my procrastination has let someone beat me to it).

Just updated to build 3 and noticed I've lost choke/aftertouch on all cymbals. Went back to 2.0.2.2 and all was well. Back up to 2.0.2.3 and again no choke/aftertouch.

Thanks for all your work Rob, and to all the helpful members here.
