I've got the hi hat working fairly well except that I have to kind of slam on the pedal in order for the pedal note ("chick" sound) to register and light up in edrummin. I find that most of the time when I'm trying to hit a quick open hat and close it with the pedal, it misses the closed pedal signal and the open hat just rings. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of this?
Similarly, the first 1/4" or so of the pedal opening does not register as opening up on edrummin - the pedal level bar doesn't move until the pedal is more than about 1/4" open. So in practice, a slightly open hi hat is registering as closed tight for me. And adjusting the hi-hat levels does nothing since at 1/4" open, I'm already bottomed out according to edrummin.
VH-11 hi hat pedal - how to adjust sensitivity?
Re: VH-11 hi hat pedal - how to adjust sensitivity?
Sounds like you need to calibrate.
Re: VH-11 hi hat pedal - how to adjust sensitivity?
I did calibrate and recalibrate but that hasn't fixed the problem unfortunately. I can't nudge the line any farther left than the farthest left it goes ha. It seems like an issue with the VH-11 setup and not the software but I'm not sure how to determine that or fix the problem. I have it set up according to the instructions and have messed around with it a bunch, moved it up and down the hi-hat stand, adjusted the tightener on top, etc.
Interestingly, no matter how hard I slam on the pedal it won't register as a "pedal" hit in edrummin unless the hi hat was at at least "open 3" level before closing the pedal. If the hi hat is open to "open 2" before closing, it will never register a pedal hit.

To me it sounds like you need to adjust the the left side of the calibration range further towards the right, not the left.djv5010 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:50 pmI did calibrate and recalibrate but that hasn't fixed the problem unfortunately. That's the intended behavior. The pedal needs to return to a certain level of openness before a pedal note can be triggered. This is needed to prevent multiple notes being triggered from the 'bounce' in the pedal position when performing closed pedal notes.djv5010 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 13, 2022 11:50 pmInterestingly, no matter how hard I slam on the pedal it won't register as a "pedal" hit in edrummin unless the hi hat was at at least "open 3" level before closing the pedal. You can make the pedal return to open faster by moving the right side of the the calibration range a bit further to left. Also, the travel control has an impact on this. Are you using version 1.6 or version 2?
Re: VH-11 hi hat pedal - how to adjust sensitivity?
Ah okay...interesting. I may have to mess with the levels in that case. I'm used to acoustic drums where you can really lay into a barely open hat and then cut it off real tight. If I can get to the bottom of my other issue, that may also help.Rob wrote: ↑Thu Apr 14, 2022 12:10 am

When I move the left side of the calibration range to the right, the problem gets worse. I then have to really open the pedal quite a lot before it even moves from "tight" to "closed". It does seem that the pedal only triggers successfully about 75% of the time even when I'm really sort of slamming it from fully open. Also, on the splash sense graphic, I had to move the bar all the way to 60ms because even the quickest splash registers as pretty latent.
I'm on version 2 by the way. And other than this little hi hat issue, the software and the edrummin work flawlessly. Really impressed with the experience so far!
EDIT: somehow the tilt dial on my hi hat stand got turned...I flattened it out and a lot of these problems are minimized. Whoops...
