ATV 14" Hihat with edrumin 10

I just got an ATV 14" hihat and decided to create a new post since all the posts I found about it are at least a year old.
Connected it to my edrumin10 and it was autodetected as controller, no problems there, I then started to mess around with the calibration but I found a preset by whoisjb, applied that and I like it, the edge scaler seems a bit high but that's it needed to avoid low velocity edge hits triggering bow hits and the impact mode works really well filtering unwanted notes, also you need to hit it with a shallower angle than usual.

Waiting for some foam strips to get rid of the annoying clomp of the 2 pieces coming together, but it's looking good so far.

thanks and greets
Daniel

ROFL!!!! Indeed!

"CLOP! CLOP! CLOP! CLOP!"

*Sound of practicing keeping time with left foot a la ching ring. I had taken the bottom "cymbal" off when I initially put the kit together but decided to put it back on this time around for better feel. I will be looking out for some adhesive backed foam to try to help some. My wife hates that noise haha.

I had to remove some of the foam because pedal notes are harder to get if I don’t press the pedal hard enough, it is now a bit louder but my tolerance is if I can’t hear it with my headphones it’s ok, and that’s the case, the missus will just have to learn to leave with it…

I've created an updated preset with bell sense, it works great.

I tried that but I couldn't get splashes to trigger, the curve wasn't there, it was a flat line in pedal or impact mode in beta 2.

Drum-tec sells an inlay but it seems they use conventional foam as well and for 29€...

Great info! That inlay at Drum-Tec is interesting. I was looking real close at your video trying to see how much you used, hehe.

I am not sure if the weather stripping material I picked up the other day will be right dimensions or not, or even the best type of material, they had 2 types (same brand) of material, one was more black in color and more dense and less compressible foam, the other was gray and more compressible. I got the gray thinking more compressible would work better for splash/fully closed sensing and probably more sound absorbing as well. They had thicknesses up to I think 1/2" and different widths but I started on narrower end of range.

Triggering seemed to be OK for me with the old setup and no bottom, I did tune/calibrate the range a couple times to tweek it. But it just didn't feel right with no bottom there.

Was thinking that how close I got to the edge on the bottom with weatherstrip might also affect how it triggers/senses.

Will be working on this in the next week or so, I also have to factor in some work around using a 3-zone adapter on my high hat and not go totally wild covering the area around the cable notch cutout with foam haha.
