eDRUMin 2.0 is now available for testing. As with any major update, you can downgrade to version 1.6, but your device will be factory reset in the process. To properly downgrade on macOS, you'll need to delete the eDRUMin control application from the Applications folder and then reinstall version 1.6. Be sure to save a device preset before updating so you can restore if you need to. Version 2.0 has already been extensively tested in the alpha phase. Thank-you to everyone who participated.
Breaking Changes
  • The processing for the Hihat pedal note detection has changed a bit. You will need to make small adjustments to your gain and splash sensitivity controls, but it's well worth the minor adjustments you'll need to make.
  • The link control has been removed from the Pedal Editor. Inputs are assigned to the Hihat pedal using the ‘Hihat Cymbal’ pad function (shown right). Your input that serves as you hihat cymbal should be automatically setup during the firmware update.
  • Also, in version 2, when using the Hihat Levels Mode, the number of levels is fixed at 8. I probably still need to adjust the drum maps to accommodate this change.
New Features
  • Drum Maps / Drum Map Editor
  • Pad Functions
  • Redesigned Pedal Input Interface
  • Velocity curve for pedal notes
  • Improved Splash Triggering
  • MIDI Monitor
Improvements
  • Inverted the hihat pedal graphics
  • Improved splash detection
  • Note banks support drag and drop.
  • Dual Mono inputs can now be properly controlled by the hihat pedal.
  • Preset last modification date is now shown in the preset manager.
  • Pedal Hits now light up the pedal jack.
  • Added additional positional sensing control to improve stability for some pads.
  • Added additional hotspot suppression control improve hotspot detecting for some pads.
  • Added sysEx message support for devices connected to ED10 USB host port.
BUG Fixes since version 1.6
  • Fixed slow UI performance when calibrating pedals.
  • Fixed a crash when Clicking ‘Update Firmware’, then canceling, and clicking ‘Update Firmware’ again.
  • Fixed issues saving Metadata for presets.
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent pedal presets from being saved.
  • Applying a device preset will now properly setup Roland 3-Way inputs.
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to SS articulation when hitting dual piezo extremely lightly.
  • Fixed an issue that could result in some cymbals configured as Yamaha 3-Zone triggering EDGE with hard hits to the BOW.
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong input could light up when hitting a pad, especially if auto-select was disabled.
  • Fixed an issue passing sysEx messages from USB -> MIDI DIN.

Questions and Answers
Can I use version 1 presets with version 2 firmware?
Yes. Version 1 presets will be updated on the fly (actual file is not changed) before it gets sent to the device. If the input a preset is being sent to is setup as a ‘Drum Map Kit Piece’, it will remain setup to use the drum map. You’ll need to change it to ‘Note Banks’ before or after sending the preset to have it use the Notes assigned in the preset.

Hey Rob,
Is there a way to do a full eDRUMin 10 device backup before doing the version 2 install?
Or do we need to back up each input device separately?
Thanks!

Yes, you can and should save a device snapshot. Go to the Preset Manager and click on your device icon, turning it green, and then click 'New Preset'.

Is there a way to reset midi notes for a kit piece without having to reset the input? I don’t know what I did but now my china set as kit piece extra cymbal 2 sends the same midi notes as the open edge 5 and open tip 5 of my hihat 1 in fields of rock and I can’t figure out why…

Assuming you have the input set as a kit piece, than to change the notes you would edit them in the Drum Map editor.

Ok, I’ll need to check that, what confuses me is that the note shown in the kit piece are different but in the midi monitor both china and hihat are sending the same notes

Well I just tried SSD5 and I get the same weird result: the china set as custom notes using SSD5 map sends CC4 and triggers the hihat even though the notes 93,31 are shown, in the midi monitor it sends CC4, 71 and 65 triggering thus the hihat, attached pics of my hihat and china settings.

ok, my china is actually acting as a second hihat! I can control it with my hihat pedal! My hihat is input 10 and my china 9, maybe thats' why?
