Adding a TD12 w/2 eDRUMin

Post by bkfreeman »

Hi,

I have an opportunity to buy a really cheap TD12. I thought it would be fun to add to my kit set up which is currently 2 eDRUMin using SD3, Scarlet Solo Gen 3 on an iMac computer. My question is how would I hook it up where I can use both the TD12 sounds and or SD3. I ran a similar set up before with a TD17 with USB. No USB on the old TD12. I would like to be able to still play along to music from the iMac.

Stereo outputs of the TD12 into line inputs of your Scarlett?
Use a DAW to merge SD3 and TD12 sounds to your headphones.

It will sound a bit weird, since the SD3 sounds are sampled in a drum room, and the TD12 are synth generated.
They probably won't mesh well. But worth a shot if you want.

MIDI out from your host ED10 using a 5 pin MIDI cable TD-12 MIDI. You may have to remap your SD3 to match Roland’s drum map.
TD-17KVX, PD-125BK snare, PDX-100 Tom, PDX-12 Toms, PDX-8 Toms, CY-5 splash, CY-15R ride, CY-13R China. eDRUMin 10 with TD-17 slave module. MacBook Pro (16gb RAM and 1TB SSD). SSD5.5 and EZD2. Abelton Live.

So once I've re-mapped using the TD12 midi I should be able to switch between sounds of SD3 and TD12? I assume all my connections remain same on my ED10's. Nothing changes with the Solo?

Appreciate the help.
