Hello,
Does anyone else here use ez drummer 2? If so I have a ?
Do you know if they record rimshot sounds on the toms? I’m curious if it’s worth me mounting my side triggers that are on my toms to the centre so I can get PS working but If there’s no samples recorded of them hitting nearer the rim then there’s no point…
I do have Steven slate 5.5 free edition too but I have ez x expansion packs I like for ez drummer so I tend to use that. I do rele like the cymbals of SSD and I sometimes use the cymbals from that and then then drums from ez but that’s a diff matter.
Anyone know?
Cheers

I use EZD2. I do not know of any EZXs that have PS toms. I use Gospel EZX most often, and that EZX has center, rimclick and rimshot. A lot of EZXs do not have all three articulations for toms. Most EZXs are missing the rimclick articulation.

ok cool. Thats wot I thought to be honest...no problem. I tend to use the Pop Punk EZ x by John Feldman. I used to listen to goldfinger loads when I was a kid and to be honest have never managed to grow out of that whole american 00's punk scene!
Ill stick with my side mount triggers on the toms then!
I was also wondering if there is anyway within ez drummer to change the mapping? I dont think so bu thought I would ask anyway. I basically want a crash/ride sound on the edge zone of the ride - at the moment I am doing it by changing the mapping within edrumin as I didnt think there was a way to re-assign midi values within ez d. The only slighhtly annoying thing about that is when I go to use another VST like SSD or something.

On a side note - I have the free SSD 5.5 atm and as I said before I really like the cymbals. I did notice they are the only comapny that does a drum VST rent to buy. I think this is really cool idea as its hard for me to shed out a wodge of £ all in one go. and when I did have the opportunity I chose to spend it on an ed10 so I dont have to use the alesis trig IO (actually not a bad device for beginners) its just a shame there are next to no comntrols for dynamics - especially using third party A2E triggers. It just doesnt like it but anyway yeh....Is SSD 5.5 worth renting t buy? how many kits do you get? it says you get quite a few but then so did EZ drummer and it turned out they wewre all just presets rather than different kits. Is SSD 5.5 the same or when they say you get 5 different kits or however many, do they mean 5 different kits or 5 different presets using the same kit?

I am no pro by a long chalk, I just play lots by myself and I like to have lots of sounds to switch between - I guess a little bit like a drum module!

In EZDrummer in some libraries there are some 'alt center tom' sounds on some of the toms, but mostly in the ten or so libraries I have there are just two mapped sounds - tom, and the rim.
Clicking on the arrow of any given tom shows details, of which the MIDI mapping of the articulation is shown in a pop-up, which is probably editable.

I do not see any way to mix or balance the volume of the tom vs. the rim (and it seems like all of the toms are on one fader), so I guess all of that level of volume control would depend on triggering setting volume, via velocity, outside of EZdrummer. It is a really basic scheme. Whereas...

SD3 is a whole other universe in control over these facets. I haven't seen or used positional sensing for toms in SD3, because I basically use just rim shot assigned sounds/articulations for the rims, as the rim clicks are pretty wimpy, and tom clicks aren't what I'm typically playing for.

Yeah that’s interesting. I forgot when you click on the arrow they give you what midi mapping is set for that drum.

Yeh I would LOVE SD3, I just don’t have the money annoyingly.
My ride cymbal just broke so I have to replace it.
That’s why I was/am considering SSD5.5 instead because you can rent to buy. Very clever marketing technique…

It looks much more in depth than ezdrummer. Looking more like the functionality of SD.
I’ll continue to play with the free kit and when I actually know what all the jobs and buttons do and figure out the layout I might go for it. It does look like it includes a hell of a lot, especially considering it’s around the same price, all in, for ez d.
