EDrumin4 or 10 with '80s Simmons Pads

Post by AndreaZanini »

Hello everyone.
I have a series of revival gigs in April, May where I would like to incorporate my '80s SDS8 Simmons pads into my acoustic drumkit and trigger sounds off my Mac. Will the Edrumin4 or 10 do? Also, outside of the channel count, what are the current differences of 4 vs 10 in terms of hardware specs?

Thank you!

In terms of the input circuitry, the ED10 and ED4 are identical. The processor in the ED10 has better specs and manages a slightly better signal to noise ratio (meaning you set set the thresh a tiny bit lower), but not significantly more.

Beyond the channel count, ED10 has MIDI in and out ports, while the ED4 only has out. And the ED10 also has a USB host port, which allows for expandability.

But the most significant difference right now is that ED10 is sold out. It's so hard to get chips right now, and the next batch of ED10 are costing me 25% more to produce then the last batch, so don't be surprised if the price of the ED10 goes up to $349 when I get them back in stock.

Thank you for your response! Yes this chip shortage is a mess.
