Control Program Won’t Open on MacBook

Post by Tim »

I recently purchased an eDRUMIn 10. I have an older MacBook with plenty of hard drive space and I am running Addictive Drums 2.

However, when I went to download the control app for the eDrumIn 10 on my MacBook, the program doesn’t run. All I get is a blank, grey screen.

My machine can’t update past the current MacOS X 10.9.5

However, I have an iPhone 13 with the control app installed.

Is there a way to set up my pads using my iPhone and just connect my MacBook running Addictive Drums to the eDRUMin 10?

Also, I’m using Diamond Drum triggers and their triggered low-volume cymbals. Any tips for setting those up would also be appreciated!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Mavericks should still be supported, so I'm surprised it's not opening properly. I don't have an installation of Mavericks to test with, unfortunately.

You can use network MIDI to control the eDRUMin from your iPhone while it's connected to your macBook. Setup is a bit tedious, but it's well covered in the manual.

As for setting up your pads, if you spend some time watching the tutorial videos, you'll get a good understanding of how everything works.

I followed your instructions and everything appears connected via the network, however I still keep getting this message on my iPhone when I open the eDRUMin Control App:

“Plug in your eDRUMin.”

The only trouble is the eDRUMin is connected to my MacBook via USB. The MacBook is being powered by the wall charger.

Do I need to buy a separate power supply for the eDRUMin 10?

I appreciate your help!

no, but the eDRUMin needs to be connected to the device you will use the app with.

So, if you want to use the iPhone, plug in the USB (with an adapter) into the iPhone.
You could probably use a VNC to channel the Macbook screen to your phone wirelessly... That way, you get to plug in the eDRUMin into the Macbook, and control the Macbook via the iPhone

No need for external power adapater. Can you send me a screenshot of Network MIDI settings?

This is not correct.

I think I need to be more precise.

I meant, if one wants to use the iOS app to configure the eDRUMin, you need to connect the iPad to the eDRUMin with the USB cable.
If the eDRUMin is connected to the computer, the iPad will not "see" the eDRUMin wirelessly, that's why the OP had the message “Plug in your eDRUMin.”

You might think so, but you don't. With Network MIDI, you can use an iOS device to wirelessly control your eDRUMin which is connected to your Mac.
