Shipping options to Chile?

Hi Rob,

I'm interested in the edrumin10 but the $75 shipping fee to Chile seems a bit high relative to the item's weight and dimension. Value-added taxes and import fees are charged on the CIF total, i.e. including shipping, so it's really $100 just for shipping.

We barely have FedEx here so maybe that explains it. Have you looked at how much other carriers such as DHL would charge by any chance? FWIW Amazon.com now does free shipping to Chile for orders above $49, there's significant ecommerce from abroad coming here these days, which I suspect might help with prices. Have you considered selling via Amazon?

FedEx, DHL, and UPS are comparable in price. I'm not interested in Amazon. They would take a cut of my profit, charge me tax and import duties, steer customers away from my website, and place a barrier between me and my customers. Sorry. You'll just have to wait until free shipping is available again (who knows when that will be) or pay FedEx.

Regards,
Rob

Thanks for your quick reply. What's the factor for free shipping to be available, you deciding to use it as a type of discount/promo, or changes in FedEx shipping costs that make it more palatable?

Free shipping is via Registered Airmail. Due to the COVID situation, regular international flights to South American and many other places around the world have been suspended. When regular international flights resume, free shipping will become available again.
