Saved Presets
Saved Presets
Hello! My name is Jimmy. I'm brand new to eDRUMin and I can't wait to try it. I just ordered an eDRUMin 10 to use live with Ableton. I'm sorry if this has been covered in the forums somewhere. I searched but couldn't find the answer to my question. I was wondering, does the eDRUMin save it's current set up when powered down, or do you have to open the app every time to load the settings you want? Thanks!

Re: Saved Presets
In the current released version of software (I think 1.4.0.39, check the downloads section of website) every change you make is saved. Rob can tell you the frequency of saving, but from experience it is quick. So if you make a change. Take a couple breaths and shut off your device all settings are saved. Plus you can save any pad’s preset for future use.
Rob is working on a new beta software release called 1.5, and you can find that thread in this forum. User beware it is beta… One new feature is you can turn auto save off. That way you can experiment without fear of overwriting a good baseline. If you mess it up you can power cycle and it will come back to last saved (just before you turned auto save off). Or while you are experimenting and you like the changes you can 1) turn auto save back on to save as new baseline or 2) save a pad’s preset for future use on the original baseline.

Re: Saved Presets
Thank you so much for your reply. So, you can save pad presets. But, can you save a whole set up of all your pads as a preset? Or are all the pads only saved as they are set when you power down or when auto save is on? Thanks!
Re: Saved Presets
All the settings are persisted to the device and survive power cycling. There is no need to reload the device from the computer after powering down.
Version 1.5, currently in beta, allows for saving a snapshot of the entire device and allows downloading the snapshot to your computer.
You are also able to save individual pads and the pedal inputs as presets. These too can be downloaded to your computer.

Re: Saved Presets
Each pad is individually saved as a preset. There is no way to save a group of pad presets, but is easy enough tap to find the individual pad and then load the desired preset.Jimmyc81 wrote:Thank you so much for your reply. Auto save is all settings, globally on the device.
In v1.5 beta you can a device snapshot (which is everything), and pedal presets. So you can save individual pad presets, individual pedal presets, and an entire device snapshot. My guess the device snapshot will satisfy your question.

Re: Saved Presets
In theory, once you’ve dialed in all your triggers to your exact preferences, you could delete the Control App from your computer forever and never use it again. Everything will be saved on the device.
I say “in theory” because if you’re like every other electronic drummer I know, you will never be done tweaking your kit, ever. And the eDrumIn, my friend, is a tweaker’s heaven.
