Are people using the rim sesnors of toms for handclap, tambourine, block and cowbell? I never installed the rim sensors when I built my kit, I'm thinking about installing them (pretty easy one afternoon two hour job). I'm also thinking about either building a or buying something like a BT-1 and using notebanks to choose the sound. Just posting looking for ideas people might have regarding triggering these sounds.

Based on suggestions for others here on the forum I bought two used PDX-6 pads for special effects. I’m doing exactly what you are thinking. On one pad I mapped a “single finger snap” articulation to the head and “multiple finger snaps” articulation to the rim. On the second pad I did single and multiple hand claps. Then in bank two I have them set to 6”, 8”, 10”, and 12” rototoms. Works great.

You should be able to upload single shot articulations as well like trumpet sounds or dogs barking and get really creative with your solos.

I have a BT-1 in my setup to do exactly this. I’m using a latching footswitch to alternate its note banks to access a cowbell, tambourine, shaker, and handclaps. Works a treat, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for responses, they are pretty much what I expected. It's nicer to have a dedictated pad for triggering those sounds and using a momentary switch to cylce through the four sounds. I'm going to look around on ebay for a BT-1 but also will try to get the old 6" Dauz pads I have working.

I don’t have any personal experience with these, and if you’re in North America their shipping rates are ridiculous, but you might want to check out Drum-Tec’s trigger tube as an alternative for the BT-1.

The drum-tec tube pro isn't too expensive. I might order one. Thanks for the link. Would cost $84 so shipping is same price as the product. How about DIY - has anyone seen a good DIY design for a BT1 type trigger?
