Anyone using Roland PDA120LS-BK?

I noticed that the Roland PDA120LS-BK claims to have eliminated hotspots? Has anyone tried it?

I have PD125 which has a real strong hot spot. Edrumin helps with that but I wondering if this new roland pad would be better.

thanks!

Hello,

Yes i confirm it's a wonderful (and beautiful tiny) snare with no hotspot ! but I didn't manage to get the positional sensing to work with my E10 :-( but at the same time the roland commercial doc indicates that it's not implemented inside it (positional sensing feature)... surprising for a pad like that... snif... but at the hotspot level yes I confirm that it doesn't exist with it.

I switched to an edrum-tec "serie s" which manages positional sensing and sometimes I have hotspots :-(

Thanks that's great info. I think I would trade positional sensing for no hotspot since I think I don't have positional sensing in steven slate drums and have never missed it. Whereas I sometimes struggle to get consistent velocities unless I"m slamming full 127 hits all the time.

Very interesting that you still have hotspots with the drum-tec snare. I was considering maybe getting their pro-series snare since they demo it as not having much of a hotspot. However, I find that hard to believe with the sensor in the middle.

thanks for your advice!
