I tried closing the gap and didn't like the feel. I'm getting a great response, chicks and splashes and all, with a 5-6mm gap so I'm just leaving it there.Rob wrote:The reason why it's important to not have a gap is because it's helpful for the eDRUMin to know when the cymbal is moving. If there's a gap, the cymbal starts moving before the position of the pedals start changing.

Good to know that it's not causing issues.
Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
Is this thread also where I can post some observations on the updated iOS app?
1. I'm getting random bouts of non-responsiveness with the app open and playing the drums. No signal appears to be coming in, and no MIDI is being sent out. The app is not locking up though, I can still switch inputs on the screen just fine. Powercycling the trigger module restores functionality, but often the screen still displays the "Plug-in your eDrumIn" message, until I physically plug/unplug the device. Possibly related: on one of these occasions, the top right of the display indicated I have two ED10s (next to each other) with an ED4 connected to the first one. In reality I have just one ED10 with an ED4 connected. 2. The rotary controls don't update their numerical values in real time. When I change a value, I have to tap the control again, or wait a couple of seconds before the numbers update.
Other than that, the response is super fluid. It's great to be able to change settings seated at the kit. Minor quibble: I can't double tap the MIDI note numbers to switch between note numbers and scale values.

Yes, please post bugs for the iOS app here. I've been trying to do a throughout bug killing section, but every time I start, I find an issue that takes 3 hours to locate and fix .
Are you using build 22?monospace wrote:I'm getting random bouts of non-responsiveness with the app open and playing the drums. No signal appears to be coming in, and no MIDI is being sent out. The app is not locking up though, I can still switch inputs on the screen just fine.
Thank-you. I'll investigate.monospace wrote:2. The rotary controls don't update their numerical values in real time. When I change a value, I have to tap the control again, or wait a couple of seconds before the numbers update.

Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
Hey Rob,
I held a recording session today and had some major problems with the edrumin, especially the module I had updated to beta, which is to be expected I guess but it seemed fine earlier in the week.
1. Hihat bug, the auto pedal sens feature kept turning itself on and everytime it did, messed up my settings. I have been using the "stand" mode with a linked trigger, the foot sensor was all over the place despite working just fine throughout the week. Even when I re-calibrated, a few minutes later the polarity flipped and CC was bouncing up and down despite the clutch being still. I can upload a video of this happening. Basically in order to make it playable I had to re-calibrate the hihat pedal every 30 seconds.
2. Hotspot suppression seemed to be missing or weirdly aggravating the hotspot.
3. I've had a lot of crosstalk issues, even between hihat cymbal, kick and snare which are all free standing triggers and not connected to any rack unit.

What firmware were the modules running?

Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
So I managed to spend some time actually playing connected to my iPad, I fixed a bunch of issues including some crashes that are probably also affecting windows / macOS, but there are still a couple lingering issues with devices plugged into the host port. That hihat video might need to wait another week .
Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
I've commented on this before as well. It's almost as if it's reversed: the Amount knob of the Hotspot Suppression lights up when I hit the drum off-center, reducing the velocity there, and effectively accentuating the hotspot.Polyphonics wrote: 2. I've actually had better results just leaving the feature off. It seems as if the algorithm already takes care of hotspots in default mode.

Changes in build 23
- Optimizations for devices connected to USB host port.
- Fixed some possible crashes with ED4 in the USB host port of ED10.
