You would still be able to choke with aftertouch of course, you just wouldn't be able to use a MIDI note to choke a cymbal.

Will a CY15 support positional sensing?

I think it is a fair trade for user to choose between positional sensing or midi note choke note.

Yes...Sorry, all the VH's should have been CY's.

What does PS look like on a cymbal? Does it just give you better resolution between bell and bow?

Adding to Mylo’s question. What VST are you using to test positional sensing?

So the yellow gradient is where the cymbal would have different values of position. Let's say solid yellow will be position 0, and solid grey would be position 127.

I'm pretty sure this is different to how Roland it doing things, cause my method even works on Yamaha cymbals. I do believe the SD3 Decades SDX includes positional sensing on cymbals and I believe AD2 also supports it. For testing purposes I'm just using the position sensing to trigger a separate note.

I’m still not sure I get it. In SD3, eventually all signals get mapped to an articulation like bow tip or bell shank. I’ve never seen a bow center, bow off center and bow edge in SD3.

Yes it could be useful to play more than 1 bow articulation, foe instance in SD3 there’s „bow tip“ and „bow shoulder“ articulations so that’s where it could be useful, more than PS in the traditional sense like on the snare

So, we could use this a bit like a mandala pad? Higher pitch towards edge for example.
